Bruce’s Campaign of Honesty and Civility Ends
By Jerry | October 16, 2007
Last week, Bruce went on the record to “clear his name” and attack me for a 100% truthful flier that was mailed out to the citizens of Snellville. In my flier, I clearly stated and provided the dates that Bruce Garraway missed meetings as a City Councilman. I even stated that the city records would indicate and back up my claim. What I didn’t tell you was why Bruce missed the meetings, an issue he has dodged himself on numerous occasions.
Well, It turns out Bruce (or one of his associates) did some homework to find out if my flier was 100% truthful. In response, the Garraway campaign sent out a scathing flier, that not only distorts the facts himself, but completely goes back on his word to you for a civil and positive campaign.
“…That just destroys Snellville’s reputation, and I’m not going to do that.”
This flier of his claims that he did in fact attend one of the three meetings in question. Unfortunately for Bruce, and whoever did the research for him, they overlooked the fact there were two meetings on the day in question (June 14, 2007) One meeting was held in the Morning, and another in the afternoon. Bruce missed the Morning meeting, and I have a copy of the actual meeting minutes to prove this: (Click Here To See Them)
If you notice on his flier, he ONLY provides the minutes from the afternoon meeting as proof of attendance. (Click Here For a Larger Version)
My original flier joked “Was He Sleeping?” when suggesting why he missed the meetings. Well it turns out someone in the Garraway campaign was sleeping when doing their research. It also turns out that someone forgot to remind Bruce and his campaign of their promise to run a positive campaign.
I welcome anyone who wants to challenge my record, and my research of the facts. I have worked hard for this city and will continue to do so with your support for the next four years.

When I received your mailer Mayor I thought big deal Bruce missed a meeting. I thought that wasn’t much of an issue to do a mailer on.
Bruce’s response proves though that something as small as missing a meeting brings out the true measure of the man and he simply doesn’t measure up. I’m terribly dissappointed that Bruce would go to the lengths to use a photo of you to send a subtle message to his followers in a less than Christian manner. He is mean spirited in his charges rather than poking fun as you did.
Snellville is a positive place to raise my children and I for one want positive leadership and that leader is you.

Buffet boy was of course at a Buffet during these meetings! Cut the boy some slack he has to maintain his boss hog image! Where’s Roscoe?
Didn’t he miss a meeting about 2 years ago because a developer gave him Monday night Falcon Tickets?

Smith,
Yes he did miss a meeting in 2005 to attend a Falcon’s game in a developer’s box. He still collected his pay from the taxpayers of Snellville for that meeting.

Didn’t he miss a meeting this summer because he was staying in a developer’s condo at the beach? Bet he collected his pay for that meeting too. Wonder if he requested that the fridge be stocked before his arrival so he could ensure his necessary quota of free meals was met for the week?!

Snellvillian:
You are correct about Mr. Garraway missing a meeting to hangout at a developer’s beach condo. I do not know for a fact, but I am sure he did not pay for this condo. In addition, he did take pay from the City taxpayers. Simply amazing. I wish I had his lifestyle.

Your opponent misses meetings, calls the Chief at home to unlock his car, says you distort the record and dodge issues and all the while, to make himself look good, he’s plastered his face over an image of the new City Hall on his website - he’s using the house that Jerry built in an attempt to make himself look good.
Now that’s distorting the record and dodging the issues for sure. While Jerry has accomplished great things for Snellville, his opponent has not.
Jerry built a wonderful, expanded Recycling Center - his opponent attended the ribbon cutting.
Jerry built a wonderful new City Hall and Senior Center - his opponent attended the ribbon cutting.
Jerry demolished the final piece of the old Kroger shopping center and moved forward with our Town Green - his opponent attended the ribbon cutting.
Jerry gets results for Snellville.
His opponents major accomplishments during four years in office are new Christmas lights and about 50 yards of fencing.

Jerry,
I just wanted to let your supporters know that Bob Griggs is calling for Bruce Garraway to drop out of the race due to his ethical misconduct over the locked car issue.

Mr. Mayor,
I just finished reading Garraway’s post calling for an “Independent Investigation” of your friendship with Joe Anderson. When did Snellvillle become a Communist city? Who does Bruce think he is, Hugo Chavez or Harry Reid? This is the most outrageous, immature action I have ever heard of by a politician and reminds me of the Rush Limbaugh fiasco. Has he gone totally off the deep end?
Perhaps you can put his investigation letter up for auction on E-Bay. All proceeds would go towards mental health treatment for “Buffet Boy” and towards a proper education, majoring in English, so Bruce could some day have a minimum understanding of the English language. 5 votes here with many more to come!

I’m a senior citizen and have been an active voter and student of political campaigns for nearly 60 years. I cannot recall any candidate in that time that has ever resorted to attacking a private citizen and certainly none that would go so far as to have that citizen’s personal phone number programmed into an autodialer.
This evening I answered a call from your opponent, Bruce Garraway. It was a recording with a less than flattering message directed at you personally Mayor. Mr. Garraway also commented strongly against former Council Member and now private citizen Joe Anderson.
At the conclusion of the recording Mr. Garraway encourages voters to press “1″ at no charge and be connected to Joe Anderson. I took the bait, pressed “1″ and moments later Joe Anderson himself, live and in-person, answered the phone.
I was shocked and embarrased. I apologized repeatedly to Mr. Anderson who was ever the gentleman. Mr. Anderson was kind enough to spend several minutes with me and explain the circumstances that led to Mr. Garraway’s cruel attack of him and Mr. Garraway’s outrageous decision to program an automated dialer with Mr. Anderson’s personal cell phone number.
As it turned out, Mr. Anderson pointed me to your website Mayor as well as the About Gwinnett website. I’ve followed your tenure in office and am very pleased with the progress our city is making; however, I had not visited your site previously.
Let me just conclude by saying that while I’ve enjoyed studying political campaigns from the comfort of my home, this year, thanks to your opponents awful tactics, I’ll be actively campaigning for your reelection throughout my neighborhood, church, and our senior dinner club.
Best of luck,
Alice
P.S. I’d normally put my full name, but I’m affraid Mr. Garraway might look me up and program my cell number into his next autodial campaign. I live on a fixed income and I cannot afford the minutes!
