By Jerry | October 16, 2007
On Wednesday, October 10, the Snellville Parks and Recreation Department was honored as the Georgia Recreation and Park Association District 7 - Class C Agency of the Year at the annual awards banquet held at the Gainesville Civic Center. Attending on behalf of the City were Cyndee Bonacci, Director of Parks and Recreation; Kathi Clotfelter, Senior Recreation Program Supervisor; Deborah Puette, Administrative Assistant; Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer; Councilman Robert Jenkins; City Manager Jim Brooks; and Police Chief Roy Whitehead. Agency award recipients were selected based on city population and evaluated using criteria included in a nomination process.
“This award says a lot about our employees and their dedication to serving the Snellville community,” says Cyndee Bonacci. “We are fortunate to have our efforts recognized in this manner by other parks and recreation professionals.”

Congratulations to my City of Snellville, their great Park Department and you Mayor!
You’ve been a great supporter of Scouts and I know you’ve been a park designer and major supporter of our parks and rec program. Thanks too for your work to provided the much needed and long awaited north Snellville park on Oak Road.
I guess competition is good, but for the life of me I cannot find fault with the progress you’ve made during your term in office. Expanded Recycling Center, New Senior Center, wonderful City Hall, more Police, outstanding City staff, paved City streets and more transportation projects underway than ever in our City’s history.
You have earned all four votes from our household. Best of luck. We need Jerry for another four years!
