2009 Budget Deadline Looming

Tonight the City Council is holding a special work session to go over budget proposals for fiscal year 2009. I have taken the leadership role in this process and sent the following email to the council regarding the difficult decisions we will have to make in the coming weeks.
This year’s budget presents some new challenges that will effect our city and it’s citizens. Being an active observer in budget discussions can be informative and important. I urge you to take a minute, read my letter below and review the numbers for yourself. While this may not be the most exciting and interesting blog post I have ever made, it is by far one of the most important. Sunday Sales take to the Airwaves!

Rich Sullivan, AKA “Sully”, a 5-year Snellville resident is making his presence known both at the city council meeting and over the local airwaves.
Sully is the afternoon DJ on DaveFM 92.9, and he’s not shy about voicing his opinion on Snellville politics during Atlanta’s afternoon commute. Those who hear his show know well what Sully is complaining about…

17th Annual Deep South Classic brings Basketball Action to Snellville

Since 1991, the Deep South Classic has brought quality high school basketball action to Snellville over the Christmas holiday break. This year is no exception. With teams from all over the lower-48, undefeated Dacula High School and our own hometown Brookwood and South Gwinnett Boys and Girls teams, the tournament gives teams a chance to visit Snellville and showcase their talents in front of fans and scouts alike. - Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Thanksgiving Hiatus is Over! Back to Work in Snellville!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving Break! Now that our new council is settled in, it’s back to work here in Snellville!
This blog also took a small break over the holidays to recover from the election frenzy and so that I could spend some quality time slicing Turkey and watching football.
Over the next few weeks, I will be updating my blog, with my thoughts and plans for our city. I also want to give everyone a behind-the-scenes look at the last few days leading up to this past election. Unfortunately, you probably won’t be surprised at some of the (usual) shenanigans that went unnoticed by the papers!
